A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA,GRANTING A SIX
(6) MONTH EXTENSION TO HEIGHT VARIANCE 2014-01,ALLOWING
SHORESIDE PETROLEUM, INC. TO CONSTRUCT FOUR (4) 40-FOOT-
TALL PETROLEUM STORAGE STRUCTURES ON LOT 2, BLOCK 2,
LEIRER INDUSTRIAL SUBDIVISION,LOCATED BETWEEN ALAMEDA
STREET AND LEIRER ROAD, WITHIN THE INDUSTRIAL ZONING
DISTRICT
WHEREAS, on May 6, 2014 the Planning and Zoning Commission approved Resolution
2014-07 granting Shoreside Petroleum, Inc. a requested variance to exceed the maximum building
height by six (6) feet, on four (4) fuel storage tanks, to be constructed on Lot 2, Block 2, Leirer
Industrial Subdivision within the Industrial Zoning District; and
WHEREAS, the Seward City Code (SCC) 15.10.325 (F) stipulates an approved Variance
Permit lapses six(6)months after approval if the variance for which the permit was issued has not
been implemented; and
WHEREAS,(SCC) 15.10.325 (F)also states the Commission may grant time extensions not
to exceed six (6)months each upon the finding that circumstances have not changed sufficiently to
warrant a reconsideration of the approval of the variance; and
WHEREAS,on October 16,2014 Bob Lechner,on behalf of Shoreside Petroleum,requested
a six month extension to Variance Permit 2014-01, stating within the request there had been no
changes to the original plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning
Commission that:
Section 1. The Commission finds that the circumstances have not changed sufficiently to
warrant reconsideration of the Variance Permit that was granted to exceed the maximum
building height by six (6) feet, on four (4) fuel storage tanks, to be constructed on Lot 2,
Block 2, Leirer Industrial Subdivision within the Industrial Zoning District.

Section 2. Variance Permit 2014-01, granted to Shoreside Petroleum Inc. on May 6,
2014 is hereby extended until May, 2015.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this 4th day of
November 2014.
