<br />. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Dunham <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2004-11 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, SUPPORTING EFFORTS BY THE ALASKA NATURAL GAS <br />DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MAXIMIZING BENEFITS TO ALASKANS <br />BY BARGING LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS TO COASTAL COMMUNITIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority is charged with developing a <br />plan for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project maximizing its benefits to Alaskans; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an Alaskan LNG project is economically viable as infrastructure providing <br />significant benefit values by providing an ideal fuel for rural Alaska that is safe and easy to use; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, developing an LNG Project for coastal communities stranded from traditional <br />gas supplies is integral to the economics of delivering gas throughout Alaska; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, "bottle barges" or tanks built on barges to contain LNG could transport LNG to <br />Alaska communities as far south as Ketchikan or as far north as Kotzebue. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City supports barging liquefied natural gas to Alaskan coastal communities as <br />part of the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority's business concepts. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 26th <br />day of January, 2004. <br /> <br />THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> <br />C P~~C3~/f~ <br />Vanta Shafer, Vice Mayor <br />
