Sponsored by: Hunt <br /> CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2016-009 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF ONE LIVE FIRE <br /> SIMULATOR TRAINING UNIT FROM FIRE TRAINING STRUCTURES <br /> LLC IN THE AMOUNT OF$298,500.00 TO INCLUDE TRAINING AND THE <br /> COST OF SHIPPING TO SEWARD, ALASKA, AND APPROPRIATING <br /> FUNDS USING AWARD OF AFG GRANT EMW-2014-FR-00166 <br /> WHEREAS,one of the things every fire department struggles with is training requirements <br /> and trying to get live fire training and have a controlled environment where we can be safe doing it; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,the Seward area emergency responders work cooperatively to share in training <br /> time,experience and live fire training equipment available to us was inadequate for the Firefighter I <br /> and Firefighter II IF SAC and State of Alaska Certifications and skills necessary for live structural <br /> firefighting; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Seward Fire Department,as the host for a regional grant to include Moose <br /> Pass, Bear Creek, Seward Fire and Lowell Point Fire, applied for funds to purchase a live fire <br /> simulator and was awarded the 2014 Assistance to Firefighters Regional Grant EMW-2014-FR- <br /> 00166, and Council approved the acceptance of this grant September 2015; and <br /> WHEREAS,a Request For Proposals was advertised and there were two responsive bidders. <br /> The grant committee reviewed the proposals and Fire Training Structures LLC was selected for <br /> award; and <br /> WHEREAS, Fire Training Structures LLC provided the best value while meeting the <br /> specifications of the Fire Departments, for current and anticipated regional needs while staying <br /> within our budget; and <br /> WHEREAS,competitive procurement procedures for the purchase of the Life Fire Simulator <br /> Training Unit have been followed as outlined in the purchasing code; and <br /> WHEREAS,two responses were received providing specifications and price quotes for the <br /> simulator; and <br /> WHEREAS, Fire Training Structures LLC provided the best value while meeting the <br /> specifications of the Seward Area emergency responder group represented by the AFG Regional <br /> Grant EMW-2014-FR-00166. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />
