THE NESC IS A BASIC SAFETY STANDARD, NOT A DESIGN STANDARD. IT REQUIRES THE USER TO ADD SUCH DESIGN CRITERIA AS ARE APPROPRIATE FOR THE LOCALITY (NESC 1.010, NESC 250A. 1). • MOREOVER, THE NESC USES ASCE 7-05 AS A WIND LOAD STANDARD AND, AS YOU WILL RECALL FOR THE THIRD SLIDE, ASCE 7-05 PEAK WIND SPEED FOR SEWARD IS 130 MPH (NESC FIG. 250-3(a), 250-3(b), ETC). • FINALLY, THE NESC, AS WELL AS THE TELECOM ACT OF 1995, REQUIRES "...safety, reliability and generally applicable engineering purposes..." I am processing your application to attach a new 12ct FOC to your existing bundles on poles C5-18,C5-1 and C5-2. The information in the file I was given indicates that the bundle on pole C5-18 consists of '''A"messenger with a'A"coax,"over- lashed"with a 48FOC. I have no direct information about the bundles on C5-1 and C5-2. While they appear to be the same as C5-18,appearances can be deceiving. Can you please confirm for me that the existing bundles on poles C5-1 and C5-2 are,indeed,%"messenger with a'A"coax, "over-lashed"with a 48FOC? Also,I have made the assumption that you will be nesting the new 12FOC within the existing bundle,in order to present the lowest profile to the wind. Can you confirm that you will be doing so? If not,please provide me with the configuration of your resulting bundle,so that I can provide you with accurate determinations of the suitability of poles C5-18,C5-1 and C5-2 for your new attachment. Please note that we are still awaiting your response to Jeff's request for engineering data,from 10 December.
