Sponsored by: Port And Commerce Advisory Board <br /> CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> RESOLUTION 2018-015 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br /> ALASKA, ADOPTING THE UPDATED 2018 SEWARD MARINE <br /> INDUSTRIAL CENTER DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br /> WHEREAS, initial construction of the Seward Marine Industrial Center(SMIC) began in <br /> 1980 with the shiplift becoming operational in 1985; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City based the construction and development on a 1980 project description <br /> prepared by its consulting engineers; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Seward Port and Commerce Advisory Board(PACAB)initiated a plan to <br /> guide city management and private enterprise in the continued development and management of the <br /> Seward Marine Industrial Center; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Seward,Alaska passed and approved the SMIC <br /> Development plan on January 23, 1995 by Resolution 1995-007; and <br /> WHEREAS,through Resolution 2006-131 the City Council assigned PACAB to review and <br /> update the Seward Marine Industrial Development Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the plan was updated in 2008 and reviewed again in 2011; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2017 PACAB held multiple work sessions and meetings to solicit public <br /> comments and discuss updates to the SMIC Development Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the SMIC Development Plan was updated based on draft reviews and <br /> comments of PACAB, the public, Community Development, Building Department and City <br /> Administration; and <br /> WHEREAS, PACAB, at its February 7, 2018 meeting, approved Resolution 2018-002 <br /> recommending to Seward City Council to approve the updated SMIC Development Plan. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SEWARD COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: <br /> Section 1. The City Council supports the adoption of the updated 2018 Seward Marine <br /> Industrial Center Development Plan. <br /> Section 2. The appendices will be updated Administratively as needed. <br />
