HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes2018-003 Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD RESOLUTION 2018-003 (Substitute) A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PORT AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD (PACAB) RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL THE ACQUISITION BY THE CITY OF AN ADDITIONAL TEN PERCENCT SHARE OF BRADLEY LAKE POWER WHEREAS,the City of Seward is a one percent(1%)of Bradley Lake Hydroelectric power; and WHEREAS,this power, both environmentally clean and economical, averages four(4)cents per kilowatt-hour and can provide the long term affordable power needs for the City of Seward and its electrical customers; and WHEREAS,reliable, affordable power is one of Seward's most pressing needs; and WHEREAS,there is a current opportunity for the City to acquire an additional ten percent(10%) allocation of Bradley Lake Power from Municipal Light and Power(ML&P) ; and WHEREAS, the pending sale of ML&P to Chugach Electric Association (CEA) makes it incumbent that the City quickly move forward with obtaining the additional share of Bradley Lake power from ML&P. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Port and Commerce Advisory Board that: Section 1. PACAB recommends to the City Council that the City proceed with obtaining an allocation of ten percent(10%)of Bradley Lake Power that is available from Municipal Light and Power(ML&P). Section 2. A copy of this resolution shall be provided to the City Clerk to be placed on the next available City Council Meeting agenda for review and discussion_ Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Port and Commerce Advisory Board of the City of Seward, Alaska this 7th day of February,2018.
