RESOLUTION 2005-09
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
APPROPRIATE ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE REPAIR OF THE
1982 140G MOTOR GRADER IN THE AMOUNT OF $703.05
WHEREAS, on October 25,2004, Public Works requested an appropriation of$24,000
to repair the 1982 140G Motor Grader at NC Machinery in Anchorage; and
WHEREAS, the shop personnel at NC Machinery found additional necessary repairs that
needed to be made while the machine was in the shop and disassembled; and
WHEREAS, the additional repairs required overspending the $24,000 purchase order
that council authorized by $703.05. (Res. 2004-102); and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Director authorized NC Machinery to do these repairs
because they could not be done in the City Shop, and the machine was already in Anchorage, and
disassemb led.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that
Section 1. Additional repairs are hereby authorized for the 1982 140G Motor Grader in
the amount of $703.05, in addition to the $24,000 previously approved in Resolution 2004-102.
Section 2. Funds in the amount of$703.0S are available from the Street Department's
account number 101-1310-5380.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 14th day of
February 2005.

BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION
On October 25, 2004, Public Works requested an appropriation of $24,000 to repair the 1982
140G Motor Grader at NC Machinery in Anchorage. The shop personnel at NC Machinery
found additional necessary repairs that needed to be made while the machine was in the shop,
and disassembled. The additional repairs required overspending the $24,000 purchase order
that Council authorized by $703.05. (Res. 2004-102) The Public Works Director authorized NC
Machinery to do these repairs because they could not be done in the City Shop, and the
machine was already in Anchorage, and disassembled.

FISCAL NOTE:
Funding for the additional $703.05 to repair the 1982 140G Motor Grader will come from the
2005 Street Department Operating Budget, line item 101-1310-5380.

RECOMMENDATION:
Council approve Resolution 2005-09, authorizing the city manager to pay the additional
$703.05 repair costs for the 1982 140G grader from the street department’s 2005 operating
budget.
