RESOLUTION 2003-005
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING THE ACTING CITY MANAGER'S
REAPPOINTMENT OF CHARLES DAVID BROSSOW AS TEMPORARY
CHIEF OF POLICE
WHEREAS, the City appointed Charles David Brossow to the position oftemporary Chief
of Police on May 14, 2002 to allow the City time to increase the wage of the Police Chief position
and give the Police Department administrative support during the process; and
WHEREAS, the Police Chief wage has increased in the 2003 budget; and
WHEREAS, the administration plans to begin recruitment for a full time permanent Police
Chief on 02/03/03; and
WHEREAS, the process to fill the position can be very time consuming and lengthy; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that Chief Brossow be reappointed following temporary
employee procedures for a period not to exceed temporary employee status as defined in City
Ordinance 3.25.040; and
WHEREAS, PERS has granted a waiver to extend Chief Brossow' s hire until 09/30/03 or
until a new Police Chief is hired; and
WHEREAS, the reappointment of Chief Brossow will maintain a fully staffed Police
Department and provide administrative coverage during the proces,'>.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Council approves the Acting City Manager's reappointment of Charles David
Brossow as temporary Chief of Police effective January 14,2003.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 13th day
of January, 2003.
