CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION 2003-013
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, CONTINUING ACTING CITY MANAGER KRISTIN
ERCHINGER'S TEN PERCENT SALARY INCREASE AND APPROVING A
MONTHLY CAR ALLOW ANCE UNTIL AN INTERIM OR REGULAR CITY
MANAGER IS HIRED, AND APPROVING A STEP INCREASE
WHEREAS, Finance Director Kristin Erchinger was designated Acting City Manager on
November 25,2002 by former City Manager Scott Janke; and
WHEREAS, the City Council accepted the resignation of City Manager Scott Janke effective
December 20, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Finance Director Kristin Erchinger was appointed Acting City Manager by
Council on December 20, 2002 until an interim or regular City Manager was hired; and
WHEREAS, a ten percent (10%) salary increase during an acting assignment as outlined in
the Personnel Code is appropriate; and
WHEREAS, a two hundred dollar ($200.00) per month car allowance formerly received by
the City Manager should be provided to the Acting City Manager during the interim, as it will be
necessary for her to continue to use her vehicle throughout the City on a daily basis; and
WHEREAS, Seward City Code 3.30.020 states, ".. . department heads and city manager staff
shall receive an annual performance evaluation in January of each year. The employee's performance
must have been satisfactory for at least six months immediately prior to his/her annual performance
evaluation in order to receive a step increase." and
WHEREAS, City Manager Scott Janke's resignation was accepted prior to his completion of
Kristin Erchinger's annual evaluation; and
WHEREAS, in lieu of an annual performance by former City Manager Scott Janke, Council
recognizes Kristin Erchinger's performance and authorizes a step increase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA that:
Section 1. Erchinger shall continue to receive a ten percent (10%) salary increase until an
interim or regular City Manager is hired.
Section 2. Erchinger shall receive a two hundred dollar ($200.00) per month car allowance
retroactive to December 20, 2002 until an interim or regular City Manager is hired.

Section 3. Erchinger shall receive a step increase effective January 1, 2003.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of January, 2003.
