<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2002-002 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH TRYCK NYMAN HAYES, INCORPORATED (TNH) <br />FOR ASSESSING THE HARBOR DEPARTMENT'S USED OIL <br />COLLECTION PROGRAM FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $13,748. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Harbor Department collects and delivers used oil to and from <br />various facilities in town and is responsible for used oil collection and recycling; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, used oil collection occurs at the six dumpsters in the Harbor area, at the <br />Seward Marine Industrial Center, Institute of Marine Science, A VTEC and the electrical <br />generation plant and is delivered to various City buildings for recycled use in used oil burners <br />for heat; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this is a very large part of the Harbor operations and needs to be reviewed <br />by qualified, competent experts in the field to ensure compliance with all applicable state and <br />federal regulations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this review and assessment to ensure compliance and identify areas for <br />improvement is environmentally responsible; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, TNH has provided a proposal for this service; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, per City of Seward Code of Ordinances S6.10.120, Engineering <br />Services are professional services and exempt from competitive procurement. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate and enter into an agreement <br />with Tryck Nyman Hayes, Incorporated, for a used oil collection program assessment per the <br />attached proposal for an amount not to exceed $13,748. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this <br />14th day of January 2002. <br />
