RESOLUTION 2002-021
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE
SPECIALIZED TOOLS AND SPARE PARTS FROM EMD FOR THE
GENERATOR PLANT FORAN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $62,500 AND
APPROPRIATING $80,000 FOR THE EMD SPECIALIZED TOOLS, SPARE
PARTS AND OTHER TOOLS
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate efficient maintenance and repair work at the generator
plant, the mechanics and the public works director have submitted a list of tools and spare parts
which they recommend be purchased for the generator plant; and
WHEREAS, the tools include specialized EMD tools and EMD parts that can only be
purchased from EMD; and
WHEREAS, according to Seward City Code 6.1 0.120(A)( 5), supplies and materials that can
only be purchased from one single dealer are exempt from competitive procurement procedures; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that approximately an additional $20,000 will be needed for
other tools that will help facilitate the maintenance and repair work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to purchase EMD spare parts and tools from
EMD for the generation plant at a cost not-to-exceed $62,500.
Section 2. Funds in the amount of $80,000 shall be appropriated from the Electric
Department Maintenance & Repair Fund (MRRF) to the Electric Department Maintenance Standby
Generation Maintenance & Repairs Account 501-5100-5380.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 25th
day of February, 2002.
