<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Sponsored by: Janke <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />RESOLUTION 2001-003 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, <br />ALASKA, IN SUPPORT OF THE ADOPTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD <br />EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN, REVISED SEPTEMBER 2000 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of all municipalities to plan and prepare for response to <br />potential disasters, of either natural or technological origin, which might occur within their <br />respective jurisdictional areas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Emergency Preparedness Plan that the City of Seward currently operates <br />under was approved on October 7, 1994; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to more effectively protect and serve the residents of the City of <br />Seward in the event of the occurrence of a disaster, the City of Seward Emergency Preparedness <br />Plan must be reviewed periodically; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Seward Emergency Preparedness Plan, revised September 2000, <br />is a collaboration of efforts from City, Borough and State agencies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, any changes to the Emergency Preparedness Plan that effect the plan concept <br />need to be brought forward for Council approval; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Emergency Preparedness Plan is a living document, as changes occur <br />within the city staff or community, sections of the plan will need to be updated to keep it viable, <br />these housekeeping changes, ifthey do not effect the Plan concept, will not be brought forward for <br />council approval; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a completed plan will be on file in the Office of the City Manager, Assistant <br />City Manager, City Clerk, City Shop, Engineering Department, Finance Department, Fire <br />Department, Harbor Department, Library, Planning & Zoning, Police Chief, and Police Dispatch; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City of Seward, Alaska, supports the CITY OF SEWARD EMERGENCY <br />PREPAREDNESS PLAN, and the City Manager, or if he is unavailable the appropriate city <br />employee, is authorized to implement the plan on behalf of the City of Seward. <br />
