RESOLUTION 2001-015
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INCREASE A
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT WITH DRYDEN & LARUE, INC.
TO PROVIDE ENGINEERING SERVICES AS OUTLINED IN THEIR
PROPOSAL DATED JANUARY 11, 2001 AND AS PREVIOUSLY
AUTHORIZED BY COUNCIL FOR A REVISED COST NOT -TO-EXCEED
$203,000.
WHEREAS, The City of Seward has two generators which need replacing to maintain the
ability of the City to provide stand-by electrical power in the event of interruption of the power
supply from Chugach Electric; and
WHEREAS, The City of Seward has received a $1,088,500 grant from the State of Alaska
to replace these generators, a portion of which can be used for engineering services; and
WHEREAS, Dryden & LaRue has prepared a report detailing the needs of the City to
replace these generators with modem equipment; and
WHEREAS, Dryden & LaRue has originally submitted and Council approved a proposal
to do the engineering for this project for an amount not-to-exceed $178,000; and
WHEREAS, Dryden & LaRue have been invaluable during the course of this project and
have provided services not originally contemplated under this contract; and,
WHEREAS, Dryden & LaRue have provided an amended scope of work proposal extending
the contract by $25,000 to $203,000; and,
WHEREAS, Dryden & LaRue has been determined to be uniquely qualified to do this
project and has submitted a reasonable price, thereby making competitive bidding unnecessary
according to Section 6.10.120, A-8;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:

Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with the engineering firm
of Dryden & LaRue, Inc., at a cost not-to-exceed $203,000 to provide engineering services
necessary to install a new generator in Ft Raymond Substation.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council ofthe city of Seward, Alaska, this 22 day
ofJanuary 2001.
