<br />229 <br /> <br />City of Seward, Alaska <br />May 11, 2005 <br /> <br />Historic Preservation Commission Minutes <br />Volume 1, Page 229 <br /> <br />Call to Order <br /> <br />The May 11, 2005 regular meeting of the Seward Historic Preservation Commission was <br />called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Vise-Chair, Kirsten Vesel. <br /> <br />Opening Ceremony <br /> <br />Swann led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br />Roll Call <br /> <br />There were present: Kirsten Vesel, Vise-Chair presiding, and <br /> <br />Shannon Kovac <br />Tom Swann <br /> <br />Iris Darling <br />Creg Carpenter (arrived at 6:50 pm) <br /> <br />comprising a quorum of the Commission; and <br /> <br />Malcolm Brown, Planner <br />Donna Glenz, Planning Assistant <br /> <br />Absent was: Michaela Walker-Hettinger <br /> <br />One Vacant Position <br /> <br />City Administration Report <br /> <br />Brown gave an update on City activities as follows: <br />* A presentation was planned to the CIRI Corporation on May 18, 2005 on the Jesse <br />Lee Home, Commissioners Swann and Walker-Hettinger planned to attend <br />* The Save Americas Treasures Grant was not awarded to the Jesse Lee Home on the <br />last attempt. <br />* A gentleman from Homer by the name of Dr Jeff Callahan had submitted a letter of <br />interest in the Jesse Lee Home. Brown noted that the letter was before the <br />Commission as a lay down item. <br /> <br />In response to Kovac, Brown noted he thought the next application for the American <br />Treasures Grant was due in February 2006. <br /> <br />Other Reports, Announcements & Presentations - None <br /> <br />Citizen Comments on Agenda Items Not Scheduled For Public Hearing <br /> <br />Doren Lorenz, Inside the City, stated that this was the first Historic Preservation meeting <br />since she had resigned her seat on the Commission to be seated on the City Council.
