<br />Sponsored by Historic Preservation Commission <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-04 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br />COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL BUDGET $10,000 <br />TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION FOR MATCHING GRANT FUNDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 2010 Comprehensive Plan states that, "Seward Derives Part of Its <br />Unique Character From Its Historic Architecture; This Character Must Be Saved;" and <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the community supports efforts to preserve the historic character of Seward; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there are federal matching-grant funds available annually through the State <br />Historic Preservation Office; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these matching grant programs provide the Historic Preservation <br />Commission with the additional funds necessary to accomplish the duties of the commission as <br />outlined in SCC ~ 2.30.425; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, projects completed with the assistance of matching grants provide for the <br />preservation of Seward's historic character and consequently aid in the promotion of "heritage <br />tourism" ; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation <br />Commission that: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Seward Historic Preservation Commission recommends that the City <br />Council budget $10,000 for FY96 to the Historic Preservation Commission for matching grant <br />funds. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission this 15th <br />day of February, 1995. <br />
