HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
RESOLUTION NO. 2S:OS
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ESTABLISH A
SPECIAL REVENUE ACCOUNT, APPROPRIATE FUNDS AND ADJUST THE
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT BUDGET TO FACILITATE THE
COMPLETION OF PHASE II OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLAN
WHEREAS, SCC ~ 2.30.425 states that it is the responsibility of the Historic Preservation
Commission to develop a historic preservation plan that will include provisions for the
identification, protection and interpretation of the area's significant resources; and
WHEREAS, phase I of the Seward Historic Preservation Plan was completed in 1993,
with the assistance of funds from the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks
and Outdoor Recreation, State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO); and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 94-200, authorized the City administration to apply for Fiscal
Year 1995, historic preservation grant funds; and
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a matching grant in the amount of $7,503.00 from
SHPO for completion of phase II of the Preservation Plan; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation
Commission that:
Section 1. A proposed resolution, attached and incorporated herein by reference,
recommending that the City Council establish a special revenue account, appropriate funds and
adjust the Community Development Department budget to facilitate phase II completion of the
Seward Historic Preservation Plan.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission this 15th
day of March, 1995.
