<br />, <br /> <br />~~-h ~ <br /> <br /> <br />ATION <br />PLACE <br />PLACES <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2&OJ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESE <br />COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUN <br />HOBEN PARK ON THE SEWARD REGISTER OF HISTO <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City Council Ordinance No. 95-10, establis ed the Seward Register of <br />Historic Places in order to locally recognize properties importan n Seward's history; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the historic Hoben Park, located at ~Ol Railway Avenue on Lot 2, <br />Waterfront Tracts, was built sometime before 1927 and is wned by the City of Seward; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the park is located within the loc y designated Downtown Historic District; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Alaska SeaLife Cen r project, Section 106 review, determined that <br />Hoben Park was eligible for the National gister of Historic Places as a designed landscape <br />significant for its association with transp tation and recreation in Seward during its period of <br />significance from about 1927 to 1944; d <br /> <br />WHEREAS, local recogniti of Hoben Park, will assist in raising the public's awareness <br />of the historic site, and serve to otect the historical integrity of the park; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFO , BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation <br />Commission that: <br /> <br />Section 1. Ho n Park is eligible for placement on the Seward Register of Historic Places <br />as a property assoc' ted with transportation and recreation in Seward between 1927 and 1944. <br /> <br /> <br />i It is hereby recommended that the City Council include Hoben Park on the <br />Seward Reg' ter of Historic Places. <br /> <br />This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission this 15th <br />y of April, 1998. <br />
