HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1991-004 Sponsored by Schaefermever CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 91-004 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, GRANTING A VARIANCE TO DEAN LUST FOR A SIGN TO BE LOCATED ON LOT 7, BLOCK 2, MARINA SUBDIVISION WHEREAS, Dean Lust has requested a Sign Variance in accordance with Seward City Code Section 12.10.055; and WHEREAS, an application meeting the requirements of section 12.10.055 of the City Code was submitted and received on April 17, 1991; and WHEREAS, the request is for a sign to be located on Lot 7, Block 2, Marina SUbdivision, wi thin the Harbor Commercial District; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning commission that: Section 1. The requested variance satisfies all of the conditions set forth in Section 12.10.055 of the City Code in that it: a. Does not constitute a grant of special privileges inconsistent with the limitation upon signage and uses of other property in the vicinity and in the Harbor Commercial Zone; b. Is necessary because of special circumstances relating to the location of the business and the flow of customer traffic; and c. will not be materially detrimental to the public welfare or injurious to the property or improvements in the vicinity and in the Harbor Commercial Zone. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to issue a Sign Variance Permit to Dean Lust, dba Sailing, Inc., to allocate up to 109 square feet of the authorized 200 square feet of signage from Third Avenue frontage to be used in addition to the 80 square feet authorized under the City Code for signage on the North Harbor street frontage of Lot 7, Block 1, Marina Subdivision. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
