<br />Sponsored by Schaefermeyer <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-004 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, <br />RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE CITY <br />ADMINISTRATION TO PROCEED WITH A PETITION FOR ANNEXATION OF <br />APPROXIMATELY 5,375 ACRES ALONG THE SEWARD MERIDIAN VALLEY <br />BETWEEN THE NASH ROAD AND BEAR LAKE AREAS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Alaska Statehood Act provided for the future growth and develop- <br />ment of local communities through municipal entitlement programsj and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, because of the long range needs of the community, the city of Seward <br />continues to support state and borough entitlement selections of National Forest lands <br />contiguous to the cityj and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is inevitable that long range future community growth and develop- <br />ment, residential, industrial and recreational, will occur within this territory proposed for <br />annexationj and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the incorporation of this territory will enable the City to plan for and <br />control that development. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning <br />Commission that: <br /> <br />Section 1. It recommends that the City Council authorize and direct the city <br />administration to prepare a petition to effect the annexation of lands described in Exhibit <br />I, incorporated herewith by reference, in accordance with 19 AAC 10.070, 19 AAC 10.480, <br />19 AAC 10.490 and 19 AAC 10.510, and to file this petition with the local Boundary <br />Commission for action. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this <br />1st day of April, 1992. <br /> <br /> <br />THE CITY OF SEW <br />
