<br />Sponsored by Schaefermeyer <br /> <br />CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br />PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-002 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, <br />RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ENACT ORDINANCE 93-03, <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 12.10, SIGNS, OF THE SEWARD CITY CODE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all codes need to be continually reviewed and modified as necessary <br />to reflect changing community values and needs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a desire within the community to allow for certain types of <br />time and temperature signs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the section of the Sign Code prohibiting internally lite-free standing <br />signs in the downtown business district is contradictory to the needs of businesses to <br />identify their places of business and the need to illuminate the downtown district with <br />warm lighting during long winter nights; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning <br />Commission that: <br /> <br />Section 1. It is recommended that the Seward City Council enact Ordinance 93-03. <br />modifying Chapter 12.10, Signs, of the Seward City Code, to allow time and temperature <br />signs by permit of the Planning & Zoning Commission and to allow internally lite-free <br />standing signs in the downtown commercial zone. <br /> <br />Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this <br />6th day of January, 1993. <br /> <br />THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA <br /> <br />
