HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1993-002 Sponsored by Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 93-002 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ENACT ORDINANCE 93-03, AMENDING CHAPTER 12.10, SIGNS, OF THE SEWARD CITY CODE WHEREAS, all codes need to be continually reviewed and modified as necessary to reflect changing community values and needs; and WHEREAS, there is a desire within the community to allow for certain types of time and temperature signs; and WHEREAS, the section of the Sign Code prohibiting internally lite-free standing signs in the downtown business district is contradictory to the needs of businesses to identify their places of business and the need to illuminate the downtown district with warm lighting during long winter nights; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission that: Section 1. It is recommended that the Seward City Council enact Ordinance 93-03. modifying Chapter 12.10, Signs, of the Seward City Code, to allow time and temperature signs by permit of the Planning & Zoning Commission and to allow internally lite-free standing signs in the downtown commercial zone. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this 6th day of January, 1993.
