HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1994-015 Sponsored by Jones CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 94-15 Substitute A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING mAT THE CITY COUNCIL AMEND THE SEWARD LAND USE PLAN BY DESIGNATING SEWARD WATERFRONT TRACTS 2-4, MUNICIPAL DOCK AND PUBLIC ACCESS ROAD FROM CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT TO INSTITUTIONAL AND TRACTS 5 AND 6 FROM PARK TO INSTITUTIONAL WHEREAS, Seward Waterfront Tracts 2-6 have been identified by the Seward City Council as a site for development of a sea life center, now known as a marine research and public education facility; and WHEREAS, Tracts 2-4 are designated Central Business District and Tracts 5 and 6 are designated Park; and WHEREAS, it would be proper for the entire parcel identified for the proposed sea life to have the same land use designation; and WHEREAS, the Institutional land use designation most closely fits the proposed use and is consistent with the land use designation of the adjacent and closely associated University of Alaska IMS campus; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission that: Section 1. An ordinance, attached and incOIporated herein by reference, amending the Seward Land Use Plan by changing the designation of the Seward Waterfront Tracts 2-4, Municipal Dock and access road from Central Business District to Institutional and Tracts 5 and 6 from Park to Institutional, is recommended to the Seward City Council for adoption. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this 3rd day of August, 1994.
