PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
RESOLUTION NO. ~
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL OF AN AMEND-
MENT TO SCC ~ 15.10.225, LAND USES ALLOWED TABLE, TO PROHIBIT VEmCLE
IMPOUND LOTS WITHIN THE AUTO COMMERCIAL ZONING DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Seward Zoning Code, Land Uses Allowed Table currently allows a
vehicle impound lot within the Auto Commercial (AC) Zoning District by Conditional Use
Permit; and
WHEREAS, the AC Zone is located primarily along the Seward Highway and Third
A venue which is Seward I s main vehicular entrance for residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, a recent application for a vehicle impound lot within the AC Zone was met
with public opposition; and
WHEREAS, the allowance of vehicle impound lots within the AC Zone is not in harmony
with the Comprehensive Plan's objective to improve the appearance of the city's entries; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to amend the Zoning Code, Land Uses Allowed Table, to
prohibit vehicle impound lots within the Auto Commercial Zoning District in order to address the
public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning
Commission that:
Section 1. The attached proposed ordinance is recommended to the City Council for
adoption.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this 7th
day of February, 1996.
