RESOLUTION NO. 97-12
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION, AMENDING P&Z RESOLUTION NO. 97-08 SUBSTITUTE BY
STRIKING OUT THE JUNE 15,1997 DEADLINE FOR PAVING THE RELOCATED
FOURTH A VENUE AND REPLACING IT WITH JULY 15, 1997
WHEREAS, at its May 7, 1997, regular meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission
approved Resolution No. 97-08 Substitute which granted a six month extension of the conditional
use permit issued to Brad Snowden for the development of a hotel in the Small Boat Harbor; and
WHEREAS, a condition of the extension required that the portion of Fourth A venue, that
was relocated by Mr. Snowden in order to accommodate his hotel project, be paved by June 15,
1997; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward Manager of Engineering and Utilities advised against
having the asphalt delivered to Seward because using a local plant is the best way to insure a
quality asphalt; and
WHEREAS, to date the relocated Fourth Avenue has not been paved because an asphalt
batch plant has not yet been established in Seward; and
WHEREAS, according to Mr. Snowden and Frontier Paving a local batch plant is
anticipated to be set up in the very near future; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Snowden has made every effort to have the road paved by the June 15,
1997, deadline, however, circumstances beyond his control have prevented the road from being
paved on schedule.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning
Commission that:
Section 1. Section 3 of Resolution No. 97-08 Substitute is hereby amended by striking out,
June 15 and replacing it with July 15.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this 2nd
day of July, 1997.
