CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
RESOLUTION NO. 22:OJ
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THE CITY OF SEWARD STRATEGIC
PLAN TO THE CITY COUNCIL FOR ADOPTION
WHEREAS, the City of Seward Strategic Plan was prepared by the City Council, Planning
and Zoning Commission, and the administration in October, 1998 from public input provided at
the two town meetings held on September 29, and October 1, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Strategic Plan is to identify the community's vision of
Seward in the year 2020 and provide the City of Seward with direction for accomplishing that
vision, and
WHEREAS, the Plan includes specific goals and objectives that will guide the City
government in its decision-making over the next five years to help reach the community I s vision
of Seward for the year 2020; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure that the Strategic Plan accurately reflected the community's
vision, and that the goals and objectives were consistent with the vision, a public comment period
was held from December 21, 1998 to January 29, 1999; and
WHEREAS, at its February 3, and February 11, 1999 meetings the Planning and Zoning
Commission reviewed the public comments and amended the plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning
Commission that:
Section 1. The attached Strategic Plan is hereby recommended to the City Council for
approval.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this 3rd
day of March, 1999.
