AN ORDINj,NCE FOR THE TL.mn,n,G, TR.;c;:.I-'ORTATI:.J;': :J'D CTOlLi.GE
OF EXPlDSIVES A1'D DETONATORS, IN A.NY..,:UA~!TITIES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COBI,ON CUUFCIL OF TCIE SIT: OF SE>LRD,
~ECTION 1. lif.ND.LING:
Class } explosive~ and detonators within the incorporated Jirnits of the
City of ~e~~rd shall be handled as follo.~:
'1'1'.e Ala:::ka Railroad, ,:Jith tha jurisdiction over thc Itai;Lroad';dock, the
U.;' .Army with jurisdiction over the Army Dock, 'l'he City of ; eKard .:ith
jurisdiction over the ]'Erine ;,ays dock, and all other docking facilities,
are required as follows:
That all safety precautions prescribed by Underwriters Laboratories
and Standard Practices for the handling of explosives and detonators be
observed.
SECTION 2: The transportation by vehicle \dll be as follows:
~ithin the incorporated limits of the City of beward, that the load lliJit
of class -A explosives ,Jill not exceed capacity tonnage of three (3) tons
and that the vehicle hauling such class-il explosives ..1.thin the City of
Seward ,;.ill use the streets with the least possible traffic and such
vehicle carrjing class-A explmsives .Jill be marked on the front and rear
and both sides with the \'1OrC.S in large red lettering (E:::FlO:,IVES -
D.UIGEROUS) and ~1.th a red light at night, and no such vehicle will
carry detonators in the same load as the explosives itself. 'l~e speed
limit for such vehicles carrying class-L e:h.-plosives will not exceed
speed 'limit of ten (10) miles per hour.
SECTION 3: storage: There ~1.11 be no class-A explosives, deton~tors
or fuses stored within the incorporated limits of the City of Seward.
SECTION 4: Handling pe:rnits: Pennits for handling caass-A explosives ,::ill
be issued by the City Clerk.
SECTION 5: All Ordinances of the City of Se.rard, "laska, in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
This ordinance passed and approved at a Special meeting of the Comrr.on
Council of' the eity of uevrard, this 6th day of October, 1950 under
suspension of the rulG~. ~
