ORDINANCE NO. 209
To provide for the preservation, care, management, operation
of the tract of Land known as the Brownell Homestead Tract newly
acquired under Ordinance 'if 208 in accordance with the
stipulated terms submitted to the Council in writing, and verbally.
at the time of acquirements
A. The name of the tract shall be known as the ~Brownell
Park."
B. The use of firearms, traps, or any destruction of
wildlife in the area shall be prohibited.
6. Standing timber and brush shall ~ot be disturbed
enough to alter the wild character of the land more
than necessary for trails. roads, or building sites.
Where it is thought desireable to thin the forest
growth or brush to improve the view from the land,
such thinning shall be done with the advice and
supervision of a U. S. Forestry Official. so that
the growth will remain thick enough to not be
uprooted by high winds. The few very old and large
trees shall be preserved as far as possible for
their historical and educational value. Christmas
tree cutting is expressly prohibited.
D. No road shall be constructed up and along the side
hill in the Park except upon a regular surveyed plan
adopted after oareful study and consultation by a
oommittee appointed by the Mayor, one of which shall
be a forester. The aim to be to serve all the bench
building sites with a road and still marring the
side hill as little as j,'ossible.
E. Th. Police Department is herewith instructed to
include the area under it1s supervision, and endeavor
to enforoe the prohibitory features of this ordinanoe.
F. Any building sites sold or leased shall be subjeot to
the restrictions herein-contained.
This ordinanc~ passed under suspension or the rules, by
the Common Council, this 18th day of December, 1950.
